A fiat is a versatile Italian designed vehicle that was created over a century ago. The Fiat Company was founded in 1899 and opened its first factory the same year. The largest factory of its kind in Europe began construction in 1916 and was completed in 1922. The factory had five floors and sported an impressive test track on the roof. Mussolini’s autarchic policy at the time forced Fiat to think about the domestic market primarily. Fiat at that time focused on domestic trucks and commercial vehicles in the 1930’s. Fiat also manufactured railway vehicles tanks and aircraft. The company expanded out of Italy and won its first race. Today, Fiat Dealers can be located worldwide.
The post war years brought a commitment to research and development mainly. A large reduction of the manufacturing of vehicles enabled companies to focus on improvement and innovation. The years 2004-2007 brought a new mission to the Fiat. The company’s new mission is to focus primarily on efficiency and high tech solutions for the everyday car. The company’s aim is to simplify the Fiat owner daily driving life with ergonomic and innovative user-friendly vehicle components.
Today Fiat is the largest car manufacturer in Italy. The eclectic range of vehicle models range from small fuel- efficient street cars to Ferrari sports cars. Commercial vehicles are still available today at Fiat Dealers as well. Fiat has received a prestigious award twelve times, which is more than any other manufacturer has received. The award is called the European car of the year award. Fiats history includes many political, economic and social upheavals and has elegantly persevered through them all and remains strong and focused today.
