The Bonneville model receives an extra inch in it’s front suspension and The Tina, renamed the T10, receives many minor modifications as well. It is in 1965 that over 80 percent of Triumph Motorcycles were being built to be introduced to the US market. in 1967, a twin carburettor Tiger 100 Daytona was introduced. It is also the peak year for Triumph Motorcycles exports to the US. Over 28,000 Triumph Motorcycles were sold in the us, both the Bonneville and Trophy TR6 models. In 1968, a three-cylinder 750cc Trident model was designed. The first ever multi-cylinder motorcycle produced. Boasting a four speed gear box, it was nick-named the Tiger 100 and a half.
In 1971, a new, 31 inch frame design, top tube oil reservoir is fitted into all Triumph 650 twins. Changes to the Bonneville model T120R, the R signifying “road”, included: new hubs, new shoe brakes, paper air filter, headlights, rubber mounted speedometer and tachometer, however the engine remained the same. Yes, the glory years. Triumph Motorcycles saw growth during this time period.
