The Triumph Bonneville America is a British motorcycle designed and built by Triumph Motorcycles in Hinckley, Leicestershire. It’s the modern interpretation of a motorcycle icon, the Triumph Bonneville. When compared to the Bonneville, the Bonneville America is a completely different ride on a wheelbase of 65.2 inches. The saddle sits lower, and the steer head rake angle has been increased. With a larger fuel tank, and extended side panels, the retro look of the America is attractive. It’s the rider’s footrests, moved to in front of the engine that gives the cruiser look and feel to the motorcycle.
From 2002 to 2007, the Triumph Bonneville America was released with 750cc carburetted engines. As well, in 2007, an 865cc carburetted engine was also released. In 2008 Triumph introduced the first fuel injected model. It’s engine boasts an 865cc air-cooled, DOHC, parallel-twin, with a 270 degree firing angle. Quite powerful at 54 bhp (40 kW) at 6,800 rpm and with a torque rating 50.9ft lbf (60.9N-m) at 4,800 rpms. It’s transmission is a 5 speed gearbox with chain final drive. It’s weight, 504 pounds yet, in true Triumph fashion, easy to handle.
The overall look of the Triumph Bonneville America is truly Triumph with a laid-back and easy to manoeuvre cruiser body. Remarkably, it is the street-rider’s as well as the open highway-rider’s dream motorcycle. The ride being smooth and nearly carefree. It obviously brings together both the chopper and the low-rider in the most efficient way and offers a true alternative to both American and Japanese hardware. One can get completely immersed in the dedicated accessories that are available for the Triumph Bonneville America. Whether it be custom saddlebags, sissy bars, or trims available directly from Triumph, it is easy to make your ride not only distinctive but definitely yours. One must first decide between two very attractive colour choices, Jet Black and Silver, and Cardinal Red and Silver.
