Used Ferrari

This is a bit of a long story, but stick with me. It’s about my dream of owning a Used Ferrari.

When I was little I used to daydream about being a princess. I used to put on my best princess dressing up clothes, wear one of my mum’s silk skirts as a headpiece, and march off with my sword to fight dragons and befriend mining dwarves. After a while I got fed up with being a princess (there was simply too much ceremony, and no enough fun!) and so I became, as many children do, an explorer. I donned my shorts and a t-shirt with pictures of cute little birds on and set off with a net and a cap (I didn’t actually own a safari hat). I spent many a month clambering through the bushes at the end of the garden, scaling walls and trees and investigating all forms of amazing wildlife. I fell out of my fair share of tree too, but that is half the fun.

Eventually, however, I had to grow up. I had to leave the trees and the exploring behind, and start concentrating on school. And once I had studied my way determinedly through my GCSEs and A Levels, the time came to head off to uni. Somewhere in the copious amounts of drinking, dancing and (of course) studying, I managed to leave behind the little version of me, complete with all her fantasising and daydreaming. I never got rid of all my imagination obsessed brain cells – but I wasn’t allowed or able to play and dream in the way I could when I was young, innocent and free.

Once I started working, however, I discovered that being a grown up didn’t mean that I had to stop day dreaming. After all, how do you think all those bored witless employees manage to get through their 9-5 working days? The only real difference is that now I am a fully paid up and fully fledged adult I daydream about different things to when I was little. Sure, sometimes I catch thoughts flying through my mind about tracking through the jungle or living in my castle, but most of the time I daydream about less exciting stuff – like getting a new house, or choosing a new car.

The best car daydream is when I think about getting my Ferrari. I imagine myself traipsing over to my local used Ferrari dealership (yup, used, my dreams aren’t completely illogical!), looking all “woe is me” and down trodden. As I slink through the door I notice everyone looking at me, clearly wondering what such an obviously depressed down and out is doing in their dealership. Then I slip my coat off to reveal a very expensive suit, raise my head high, and stride over to the reception desk, pulling out my hair band as I do so and managing that film star swish swish head toss that noone can actually do in real life.

I arrive at the desk, ask for the beautiful red Used Ferrari 599 GTO, and sign the huge and eminently satisfying check there and then. It is a beautiful moment – and a beautiful daydream!
