With fuel prices high and people all over the world barking about the ongoing environmental problems created in part by automobile emissions, the Smart Car seems to be popping up all over the place as an excellent choice for transportation. It gets top-star ratings in several categories such as fuel economy, safety and is one of the least expensive vehicles to insure. This is a vehicle that actually pleases everyone from the Environmental Protection Agency right through to the consumer. There are even Used Smart Cars models for very acceptable prices which make the car even more attractive during the continuation of the declining economy.
The California Air Resources Board has certified the Smart Car as an Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle. It is also recognized for its low greenhouse gas and air pollutant scores by the EPA. When a car can gain accolades from those two communities, then something is being done right. The highest ratings for were received from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety which includes the highest rank possible for the frontal offset test and side impact test. It also included the highest ranking possible for roof strength. Basically, it is one of the safest cars on the road.
Along with the high safety rankings, low-cost insurance, and being environmentally acceptable, the new and Used Smart Cars are also one of the most fuel efficient non-hybrid vehicles on the road. With an average of 41 mpg for highway miles, a little car can go a long way. At present, there are over a million owners around the world and about 40,000 owners in the United States. I am sure these numbers will increase. They are not only the wave of the future, but they are the here and now. There is something about this particular vehicle that pleases everyone.
