When purchasing a new car it is wise to consider what you are going to be using it for. Obviously families require larger vehicles, golfers could do with lots of trunk space and if you drive long distances you are going to need something comfortable. You local car dealers can advise you on the best car for the job you want it to do, so make sure you ask before you rush in and buy.
If you like to surf then the search for an appropriate car can be a frustrating and difficult one. Any car will carry surfboards on a roof rack, but you should consider the fact that this creates drag and that your beloved boards are always at risk of being stolen. Of course, cars that can fit surfboards on the inside are going to be large ones. The most traditional of these ‘surfer cars’ is the VW Campervan. A surprising amount of these are still on the roads and there are a few different styles to choose from. Ask your car dealer if he is able to source a restored camper as one of these will obviously be cheaper to run and shouldn’t need many repairs.
Another idea would be to pick up a cheap and cheerful MPV and collapse the seating. Some MPV’s will do this easier than others. Your local car dealer may have a car in stock where you can remove the seats altogether which, if you go surfing a lot might be something to consider as an option.
Instead of going to a car dealer, a visit to a car auction may turn up something you hadn’t thought of and you may even get it for a really cheap price. Car auctions can contain so many different types of vehicles, including ex business vehicles. You could even end up with a hearse; at least it would fit your long board in without a problem!
